PREFACE.

THIS pamphlet, which contains in a condensed form the history of efforts put forth in this Colony to cause a law to be passed abolishing needless SUNDAY LABOUR in the

port of Hongkong, is issued in the hope that it may arouse the sympathy of the general public throughout the British Empire, and enlist the goodwill of all others who take an interest in the welfare of the Mercantile Marine abroad.
